Troop Leadership Training   (top)

Troop Leadership Training (TLT) is the first level in youth training and is geared towards helping the newly elected leadership understand its roles and how to run the troop. All Scouts are encouraged to attend, even new Scouts who have just joined the troop. Key leadership positions are required to attend, including Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL), Patrol Leaders (PL) and Assistant Patrol Leaders (APL).   The goal of this training is ...

"To introduce the Scout to his new leadership role and the expectations of that role. To explain the role of all troop leadership positions. To equip the Scout with vision and skills to be an effective troop leader."

The training session is a formal series of programs provided by BSA that is presented by Mr. Pepe, Assistant Scoutmaster (ASM), Mr. Guy, Scoutmaster (SM) and the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), Alex Beaderstadt and his assistant, Ryan Guy. This training is scheduled to follow the troop elections so the new leadership team can begin their terms on strong footing. Participating Scouts not in a position of Responsibility will learn how their troop is run and what is expected of their elected and appointer troop leadership. Visit the links below to learn more about TLT and the other training courses offered to Scouts.

bullet Youth Training Program Outlines (BSA National website )

Leadership is a key component to Scouting and all Scouts are strongly encouraged to partake in any leadership training opportunities. All participants who successfully complete the TLT course will receive the "Trained" patch to wear on their right uniform shirt sleeve.

Guide Patrol Assignments (top)

Our troop assigns new scouts to each of the patrols instead of a single new scout patrol. To help ensure that all new scouts have proper coaching, each patrol will have a Guide assigned to that patrol so that the scouts have an older scout that they can get to know and turn to for help. Guides should focus on making sure that the new scouts in the patrol understand how the troop and patrol operates, know who to see for help and, mose importantly, make sure our troop is a safe haven to all boys by making sure they are shielded from harassment by older scouts.
